Localization Testing

Closed Beta: Localization testing is currently under development and only available to a selected group of companies on paid plans.

This feature is designed specifically for localization testing in apps that serve international users. It’s meant to support localization managers, QA leads, and mobile product teams who are committed to providing a smooth, high-quality experience in various languages and regions.

Use Case Categories

1. UI and Layout-related Test Cases

  • Text expansion: Ensure layouts adapt to longer translations (e.g., German, Finnish).

  • Bi-directional language support (LTR/RTL): Validate proper layout mirroring for languages like Arabic and Hebrew.

  • Font compatibility: Confirm fonts support scripts and characters (e.g., Thai, Devanagari).

  • Line breaks and wrapping: Avoid awkward wrapping or incorrect line splits.

  • Truncation and ellipsis: Detect any cutoff or missing content in the UI.

2. Functional Test Cases

  • Language switching logic: Verify system or user-selected language settings apply correctly.

  • Search and sorting: Confirm correct behavior with accented or non-Latin characters (e.g., kana vs kanji).

  • Date, time, and number formats: Locale-specific formats (e.g., MM/DD/YYYY vs DD.MM.YYYY, decimal separators).

  • Pluralization logic: Handle linguistic plural forms (especially in Slavic or Arabic languages).

  • Currency and units: Ensure formatting and symbol placement is correct (e.g., $1.00 vs 1,00 €).

3. Language Quality and Consistency

  • Translation consistency: Across platforms and screens for key terms (e.g., β€œLog in” vs. β€œSign in”).

  • Cultural appropriateness: Avoid metaphors or idioms that don’t localize well.

  • Spelling and grammar: Review by native speakers or LQA testers.

  • Glossary adherence: Ensure alignment with approved terminology.

  • Hardcoded strings: Catch untranslated or unexternalized text.

  • Untranslated fallback content: Detect missing keys in translation bundles.
